Notes:

1. The big rumor is that the Rams and possibly Browns are interested in trading for Donovan McNabb. The Rams would reportedly be giving up the 33rd overall pick. I don't see why Philly would consider this at all considering that they've built their entire passing game around the deep ball, and an arm like McNabb's is hardly common. Kevin Kolb sucks, and Mike Vick is still a gamble.

2. If the Patriots are interested in a running back in free agency I'd J on my B's if they picked up Thomas Jones. Otherwise Chester Taylor is the only other free agent back I'd really be interested in, that is assuming that the Redskins don't cut Clinton Portis.

3. The Patriots need a tight end. The marquee free agent for the tight end market is Ben Watson, giving you an idea of how bad this year's market is. If the Pats are willing to part with one of those 2nd round picks they could maybe land Greg Olson, or Tony Scheffler.

Predictions:

- Patriots nation will get their balls in a knot again over the prospect of signing 35 year old Jason Taylor. Some other team will over-bid for him again and I'll be the only one happy about it.

- The Pats will re-sign Bodden and maybe pick up a guy like Nick Harper to add some more veteran presence to the secondary.

WOAH WOAH WOAH...I don't want Taylor either, and I didn't last year

I honestly don't know why the Rams would be interested in McNabb...unless they think Suh or McCoy is the answer to all their problems (which is obviously foolish), I don't see it making any sense for them

trade down for multiple picks. use a couple picks to get mcnabb. use the rest of the picks to fill holes.

still doesn't make a ton of sense though. mcnabb will be old and finished by the time the rams fill all their needs.

while I would love to see Peppers as a Pat, it won't happen...his price tag is too high for a guy who would switch to LB, a position he's never played in his life

It's baseball season.

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Mar 4,2010 11:29am
1. Rusty hit the nail on the head about Peppers. It's foolish to think that Peppers can transition to a 3-4 OLB just because. It's Adalius Thomas all over again plus a way bigger price tag.

2. Adam Schefter is convinced that the Rams are going Sam Bradford with that first overall pick. I don't see any team outside the top 5 switching spots with them for multiple picks. It's too expensive. I don't think they want Suh considering they've whiffed on several defensive linemen with high picks. McCoy, or any top 5 offensive lineman, is probably the spot they need to fill the most.

i was predicting, i was praying.

Pats should really look at Derrick Mason and/or Kevin Walter to beef up the receiving corps. If they could get guys like that at a reasonable price, it would be a better off season then Joey fucking Galoway.

toggletoggle post by ArilliusBM  at Mar 4,2010 8:45pm
I think Mr. Kraft & Co. have a trick up their sleeve.

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Mar 4,2010 10:02pm
I'm going to pretend I didn't hear Derek Mason. To say that dudes hands are made of stone would be an insult to stone. Baltimore could have been a serious contender last season if that guy wasn't made of dust and wood pulp. It'll be Joey Porter all over again.

Kevin Walter is a decent option, although he has a tendency to disappear in games. I realize the guy played opposite Andre Johnson, but that's also kind of the point. I know he has good hands, I just haven't seen enough of him to know what kind of playmaker he is.

I think that ship sailed for good this time. People have been talking about them trading to get back Deion Branch. I can't see it costing much to get him from the Seahawks. Also, Kyle Vanden Boche or is he too old?

toggletoggle post by RustyPS  at Mar 4,2010 10:27pm
the WR I want them going after is Steve Breaston...cheap and an immediate upgrade over Aiken

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Mar 4,2010 10:34pm
If the Seahawks release Branch then I'd be about taking him in free agency. Right now he's too expensive and not worth anything over a 5th rounder. I don't think anyone is too big on coughing up draft picks right now.

The Peppers battle seems to be between Washington and Chicago right now. For the record the Redskins defensive line would be: Julius Peppers, Corenlius Griffin, Albert Haynesworth, and Brian Orakpro... which would be devastating on any other team besides the Redskins.

2 pieces of breaking news

Antonio Cromartie is apparently headed to the Jets. He and Kerry Rhodes will team up to make the pussiest secondary in the AFC. Have fun faggots.

tony massarotti is on NESN right now talking about a lot of nothing. He's narrowed potential Patriots free agent pickups down to not Brandon Marshall and not Julius Peppers. Thanks a lot, blowhard.

Is Breaston on the market? I'd love it if the grabbed him. Great option as a fast reliable #2 wideout to stretch the field. Everything I've been hearing points to the Cards re-signing Breaston and unloading Boldin cheap.

PFT says the Lions are going after Vanden Bosch. He only put up 3 sacks in 09, but Jeff Fischer was really insistent on a 4 man pass rush all year. Gauging his value to the Pats would be a LOT easier if I knew weather or not they were planning on using a 3-4 or a 4-3.

I want to see Antrel Rolle from the Cardinals picked up by the Pats. Just sayin' bishes.

Anyone in Patriots nation who does not think we need to bolster the secondary is delusional.

toggletoggle post by RustyPS  at Mar 5,2010 9:47am
while I like Rolle, they already have 4 capable safeties....they really don't need a 5th

toggletoggle post by SkinSandwich at Mar 5,2010 9:50am
Rolle now, or no vaginas. And yes, we could use Peppers if he was not made of solid fucking gold.

toggletoggle post by SkinSandwich at Mar 5,2010 9:53am
Who do you all think is the BEST corner on the market right now?

toggletoggle post by RustyPS  at Mar 5,2010 9:57am
Bodden...Robinson's more talented but his injury history makes me weary

toggletoggle post by RustyPS  at Mar 5,2010 10:17am
also, Al Davis continues to shock and awe the league

he only gives Kirk Morrison (one of the better ILBs in the league, if he played for a good team, he'd get a shitload more pub) a 3rd round tender, then proceeds to give their FOURTH STRING CB A 1ST AND 3RD ROUND TENDER (the highest tender possible)....W.......T.........F

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Mar 5,2010 10:51am
The Pats won't bid on Rolle. The safety position isn't necessarily their problem. They don't have enough corners that can effectively play man coverage, and realistically only 1 or 2 corners that can actually make a tackle 1 on 1.

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Mar 5,2010 11:08am
Keep an eye on Nate Vashar. The Bears might cut him, and he can tackle like a motherfucker.

Hey the Lions needed a 2/3 WR and there's no way they're going to get a chance to (sensibly) draft one this year. Burleson can put up some yards when given the chance.

Good deal. Add it to your favs list mang. I don't know, I just really think the Pats amazing run this decade is over. I really HOPE I am wrong, but almost every team in the league has FINALLY pretty much figured out the Patriots.

doesn't necessarily mean they are just going to dominate....Cromartie is dumber than a box of rocks, and Ryan has a complicated defensive system....not to say CBs have to do many complicated things most of the time, but still, he's an idiot

Looks like the Pats might be aiming to take advantage of this year's fairly deep draft and maybe go all defence unless a stud ala CJ Spiller or Golden Tate drops in their lap. Otherwise, DE, OLB and ILB all day. DO IT!

toggletoggle post by RustyPS  at Mar 5,2010 11:34pm edited Mar 5,2010 11:35pm
my personal Pats draft wish list (based on where the Pats are positioned in the draft currently, obviously Suh, McCoy, Berry, and Haden are out of the question)

1. Damian Williams, WR, USC (2nd round guy, but the guy is perfect for the Pats offense, great route runner, great hands, speed, toughness)
2. Ryan Mathews, RB, Fresno St. (was a 2nd round guy until he lit it up at the Combine, looks like LT when he was young)
3. Alex Carrington, 3-4 DE, Arkansas State (late 2nd round guy, watched film of him, looks like a slender Richard Seymour)
4. Golden Tate, WR, Notre Dame (late 1st, early 2nd round guy, similar in stature to Welker and Edelman with their fantastic YAC talent and toughness, hell if they drafted both Williams and Tate I am all for it considering Moss is in the last year of his contract and Welker may never be the same player after he comes back from his blown out knee)
5. Brandon Graham, rush LB/4-3 DE, Michigan (mid-to-late 1st round guy, great motor, worried about him in coverage)
6. Jerry Hughes, rush LB/4-3 DE, TCU (exactly the same as Graham, slightly less physically gifted)

toggletoggle post by Dankill at Mar 7,2010 10:21am
Josh Reed is supposed to visit the Pats. The guy was a fairly solid receiver not that long ago, then the Bills signed TO and stuck him in the broom closet. Could be a bounceback player if he signed with the Pats and was catching for Brady. Thoughts?
