Apple approved opera mini in the appstore. Free download. Much better than the default safari in my opinion. I'm surprised they didn't reject it.

It seems to load pages faster. Makes use of opera's "Compression Technology". The start page and tabbed browsing are kind of nice.

I guess it doesn't support any kind of video yet. Regardless if that youtube video wasn't encoded for the iphone it wouldn't have worked anyway since youtube videos are flash video.

What does Opera mini have that Sarari doesn't? I'm seriously asking. I've used Opera on desktop and have only used Safari on iPhone briefly.

The main advantage to some people is that when you request a web page the traffic is routed through opera's servers. The page is rendered on the server and then passed on to you as an image instead of a web page. They claim the images can be 90% smaller in terms of data, saving on bandwidth/data usage costs and page load times.

No video support is a Fail in my book though. Maybe in the next version...
