I am not hip so I dont know how all the venues work, what is dyi and what isnt and who pays what to do what. I have a normal life outside of music and when I feel like playing out I play where the music goes down, regardless of what is hip and what aint. I dont have time to spend my days looking up the history and background story of venues, maybe you do. I plaqy for the music and not for the venue and especially not for any scene as you can see. We have played for 10 years now and we aint a crowd pleaser. You are just fucking jealous that we are going to sign to avantgard and your still worrying about venues. Grow up. two things.

1) I had a class at URI Providence a few years ago and one of the members (previous/current) of GSS was in the class. Super, super nice dude. Find it kind of funny they get absolutely destroyed on this board, but having been here for years and years, thems the breaks.

2) A good friend of mine is one of the main bookers at Fete, and so far I've only heard good things, and definitely nothing about having to rent/pay to play. From what I've been told, there are two rooms (my friend books acts for both rooms, of all genres of music) and I've only heard good things. Obviously, a legit (as in, corporate) venue in Olneyville is never going to be everyone's bag, but I haven't heard a bad thing yet about this place from anyone besides this thread, and my friend is one of the most solid people I know, but opinions are always going to vary. Makes me really interested in checking this place out when I visit the East again.

All in all, there is my useless and unnecessary two-cents. I'm gonna have some beers, y'all stay classy.
