This topic came to mind because I enjoy the task of shoveling snow during the winter, and I feel slightly off since I've only had to shovel once. Dealing with snow usually balances out the warmer months, when I garden and do yard work. That mostly entails pulling invasive weeds out from my yard, which I then let dry and use to start fires. This is opposed to my neighbors who use chemicals to kill whatever they don't want growing, then ask me how I get my lawn looking so healthy.

There's also riding bmx, hiking, golfing, and looking at pictures of cats, obvi.

What does everyone do to relax their mind and body? I'm sure everyone on this site can agree that music is satisfying in various degrees. What else do you find soothing?

Taking the lives of helpless woodland creatures then preparing them into delicious meals.

Cleaning guns. No idea why, but it relaxes me.

Then of course, the obvious various intoxicants.

+1. One thing I sometimes miss about growing up in my parents house during the winter.

Always hated gardening though.

Agreed. Taking a shit at work is the closest I'm going to get to a george costanza desk nap. And changing strings on a 7 string bass is like an all-afternoon zen session.

Listening to music is about the only thing that relaxes me, that and exercise of any kind. Anything other than that is just something else that makes me anxious, stressed, agrivated and makes it hard to stay sober/clean. :\\

toggletoggle post by trioxin245  at Oct 24,2012 10:20am

toggletoggle post by AndrewBastard  at Oct 24,2012 11:32am
^^ yup

toggletoggle post by trioxin245  at Oct 24,2012 11:38am
everyone gets sad and bummed out, calling it a 'condition' like depression is just making excuses and using it as a crutch. Excercise to be healthier or gtfo. Also on that note, only recreational drugs are real.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Oct 24,2012 11:41am
Depression is caused by chemical imbalances in the brain. It has nothing to do with people making excuses, although a lot of pseudo-depressed FB idiots do.
I don't know if you're serious or not, but real depression isn't to be fucked around with.

toggletoggle post by trioxin245  at Oct 24,2012 11:41am
it's kind of like the whole 'its not your kids fault hes doing bad in school, he has a DISORDER.' fuck that shit, all it does is allow the person to avoid being accountable for sucking at school. your kid doesnt have some made up ADD bulshit, he just hates school and needs a smack to remind him not to fuck around.

toggletoggle post by trioxin245  at Oct 24,2012 11:43am
Theyve been telling me my whole life Im clinically depressed. Fuck all that bullshit, life isnt that hard.

toggletoggle post by trioxin245  at Oct 24,2012 11:46am
Im not saying it isnt a real thing, Ive just seen too many people whine about how theres nothing they can do about their shitty life because they have 'chemical imbalances' instead of just manning the fuck up, being accountable, and making the changes that need to be made to have the life they want. If a shithole person like me can do it, anyone can.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Oct 24,2012 11:47am
I've got low-level drepression (dysthymic disorder) and fucking love it. It makes everything negative and makes writing music easier.

toggletoggle post by chrisREX  at Oct 24,2012 11:48am
I get hungover depression, but then I eat a cheeseburger and it all works out.

took a run and a cooldown after work, vaped up and put on champion's league soccer. THAT SHIT WORKED.

toggletoggle post by Alx_Casket  at Oct 24,2012 2:01pm
I agree with there being too many people claiming they're "depressed" just because they had a bad day, but true depression is a neurochemical state as aril said. That difference is one of the things I use for lyrical content when writing songs. And sorry Ross, that was a romney thing for me to say and didn't mean to insult you.
