The Colbert Report postponed production due to Stephen Colbert's mother going down with a sudden illness, it has been reported.
It was previously announced that both Wednesday and Thursday's scheduled tapings were canceled due to "unforeseen circumstances".
The announcement was met with much speculation, as Colbert has rarely been known to cancel a taping, even hosting once while sick.
Sources close to the comedy show have now told The Huffington Post that Colbert's mother Lorna has fallen seriously ill, and that the show will not start production again until she is well.
Lorna, who is 91 years old, is Colbert's only surviving parent. His father James and two of his siblings died in a fatal plane accident in 1974.
Colbert has yet to release an official statement on the matter.
